How the cabinet was created, Part three

In the first two parts, we looked at the technological process from visualization to the procurement of solid wood, sheet material and a set of veneer, we went further - from pressing to grinding.

There are three options for pressing (in other words, “gluing”): hot cold vacuum Each of them is used in a particular case - depending on which part needs to be manufactured. For an even plane use a hot press, for the manufacture of parts of complex shape - cold, for bent or radius parts - vacuum. By the way, the largest vacuum press in Kharkov works in our workshop, which allows us to produce radiused and bent parts of almost any size.

In this case, we have several radius parts (pilasters), it is for them that cold pressing is used.

But the decor details of the pilasters are not veneered. Speaking of decorative elements. All of them are wooden, painted bronze. They cost less than similar ones made of bronze or copper, and look, frankly, no worse. In cases where such parts do not have a constructive function, do not carry an additional load, and play an exclusively decorative role, we often recommend that customers use just such an option - painted wood, so as not to cost the project. And sometimes - so as not to increase the weight of the product (when it’s not about a stationary cabinet, but, say, a chest of drawers or a cabinet, that is, an object that, theoretically, you might want to move). The production manager, Sergey, performs selective quality control of the pressed parts.
