How to create a cabinet, Part One
The story of creating any thing, even the simplest, is always fascinating. And no matter what we look at, be it a stool or a rocket, we are always curious - how is this done? who did this? For example, a closet. A simple elegant wardrobe made of American walnut, which we recently installed in our office. Let's look at the basis of the furniture technological process on his example, and at the same time get to know the people who create all our furniture.
It all starts with visualization, as elsewhere. First, a sketch on paper, then 3D visualization. At this stage, the designer not only “finds” the shape, size and material of the future object, but also “fits” it into the interior.
The author of this project is our designer-constructor Sasha.
The next stage is the preparation of design technological documentation, sketches and drawings. This stage has two stages: preparation of drawings for coordination with the customer or his representative (interior designer, for example) and development of design documentation (design and technical documentation) for production. If the second type of documentation is needed directly for the craftsmen who will be engaged in the manufacture of parts, assembly and installation, then the first - so that the client as accurately as possible imagines the product that we are developing for him, and could make all of his adjustments at an early stage. It is very important for us to agree with the client exactly the drawings, not just the “picture”. This gives us and him a guarantee that in the end everyone will be satisfied with each other. It is good if the client coordinates the drawings with his interior designer, especially if he (the client) himself is not very well versed in this kind of documentation. Although this, in general, is quite simple. Next up is the supply department. All exotic wood that we buy has documentation confirming its origin. We work only with licensed suppliers of raw materials, which supply timber and lumber only from areas in which logging is allowed.
